Installations
Dickens Gas Services can undertake any type of gas installation including gas bayonets, gas piping, gas appliances and gas meter boxes.
Room/BBQ Bayonets
Bayonets can be used for portable room heaters and also portable BBQ’s for out on the patio. If using portable heaters on a bayonet connection you should make sure you have adequate air supply in the room that the bayonet is on. If there is not adequate air flow you must fit vents to allow the air to circulate in the room.
Bayonets for portable BBQ’s are a convenient alternative to having gas bottles. You can plug your BBQ into the bayonet and never run out of gas. Just be aware that your BBQ needs to be converted for natural gas before using it on a bayonet connection.
Gas Lines
Gas supply piping is used for supplying gas to gas appliances and gas bayonets, including gas cooking appliances, gas heating appliances, gas water units, BBQ installations and gas spa/pool heaters
Gas BBQs
A big thing in today’s world is to have your BBQ installed into a brick bench top in your patio. You can have LPG set up or you can connect the BBQ to NG, which runs with your house mains gas. Be aware that when building this area for the installation of your BBQ, check with a gas fitter, like myself first, to see what set-up suits your application. For example, if you can have your BBQ fitted to mains gas or not or whether your BBQ is the correct size and dimensions and understood by the bricklayer. I have, many times, been called to install gas to a BBQ and found that the bricklayer has not completed the work correctly and the gas piping has not been run under the brick work for the BBQ. Please call me first and I will provide you with the information you require.
Gas Hot Water Units
Dickens Gas can supply and install most types of gas hot water units, usually with-in 24 hours during the week.
Makes/Types of Gas Hot Water Units
There are many makes of gas hot water units that are used for heating your water. The gas storage hot water units that are used come in different makes and sizes. You can get gas storage units from 45L up to 300L but the most common size is between 130L to 170L gas hot water storage units. These gas storage units come from many different manufacturers, these are some that I use:
- Rheem (Stellar, optima, glass)
- Hardie Dux
- Vulcan
I can supply any of these units. Then there are the gas instantaneous water units. These types of units are boxes on the wall and can come in different sizes and makes. I normally recommend Bosch Pilot Instantaneous hot water units, but I can also supply Rinnai and Rheem. These units are more electronic and need to have an electrical supply. The Bosch Instantaneous can be used for internal and external use. They come with a pilot type unit or the electronic type called the Bosch Hydro or Bosch High flow.
The Bosch Hydro has its own power generator and the Bosch High
flow needs an electrical supply. The Hydro and High flow can be
used internally. Bosch gas units come in different sizes and have
flows of 10, 13 and 16L of water per minute. The High flow comes
with 17, 21 and 26L of hot water per minute.
Rinnai instant or continuous flow gas hot water units come in sizes of 16L up to commercial heavy duty of 32/37L. they also have a Rinnai gas booster for solar installations.
Rheem continuous flow gas hot water units or Rheem Integrity come in 18, 20 and 24L of hot water flow per minute. The Bosch High flow, Rinnai Infinity and Rheem Integrity all can be controlled with touch pad controllers fitted on the wall in the kitchen and/or bathroom.
The Reece Hot Water Decisions Guide may help you to decide on the best hot water unit for your needs, otherwise, I will be happy to help you sort out your priorities.
Gas Meter Boxes
All gas installations have to start from somewhere, this means that your gas supply, will have to come from the mains gas from the supplier in the street, to your property. This will require having a gas meter box fitted so the gas can be connected to your house and regulated and monitored. Dickens Gas can install meter boxes and do all associated pipe work and paper work to get your gas supply connected. Also we can replace and relocate old meter boxes if required.
